Field Trip #1:
how whale brains are studied
In the summer of 2025, I traveled to Brazil to learn how marine mammals are studied both during their lives and after their death. Along the way, I worked with whale and dolphin researchers, learned how brains are collected and preserved for research, assisted with the rehabilitation of an injured seal, and gained a firsthand look at neuroscience beyond the lab.
