Seeking Support for My PhD Research

In fall 2026, I will begin my PhD at the University of Oxford, where I’ll study how female and male brains differ across humans and translational models used in neuroscience research, and how these differences may relate to autism and depression.

Funding opportunities in the UK are highly competitive, and I am currently seeking support to help fund my tuition, research, scientific collaborations, conference attendance, field experiences, and science communication projects.

Funding Need

For the first year of my DPhil, my estimated funding need is approximately : £55,800 / C$105,000). This includes approximately £34,000 (C$65,000) in tuition, as well as the UK Student Visa, Immigration Health Surcharge, and living expenses in Oxford.

I currently have £0 / C$0 in confirmed funding. I am looking for support that could help cover my first-year Oxford fees and living costs, either through direct bursary/foundation support, introductions to potential donors, or advice on funding routes that may be available to Canadian students pursuing research abroad.

It takes a village to make research possible. If you have any ability to fund part of my research or any potential donors who would be please get in touch with me at annick.planglois@gmail.com or with the contact form. Any contribution, big or small, helps support work aimed at understanding why women and men are diagnosed differently with certain brain and mental health conditions.

Other ways to support:

You can also support my work through ‘Nerve Glue’, my collection of neuroscience-inspired stickers. Nerve Glue is my neuroscience-inspired creative project designed to make neuroscience feel fun, approachable, and a little more playful. My hope is that each sticker sparks curiosity about the brain and encourages someone to learn something new. Please message me about this if you are interested in buying a sticker :)
